Volunteering at RMC

Whether you want to do something rewarding in the week or gain valuable work experience, RMC can give you the opportunity to do so. We are always interested in hearing from people who wish to give some of their time to contribute to our work.

Whether you are considering volunteering as a way to gain skills and experience, as a ‘taster’ of a possible future career in the refugee/asylum/migrant sector, to help others in a similar situation which you have experienced, or simply to meet new people, then you’ve come to the right place.

Are you retired or between jobs? Do you have a unique skill or interest that can make a valuable contribution to our work? Are you a student looking for a course placement?

What are you doing at the moment?

•          Studying?
•          Working?
•          Stuck at home?

Sounds a bit boring when you come to think about it?

If so, come and join us, we can give you something to do that will be worthwhile for both other people and yourself…

Whatever your skills, level of experience or interests, we will try to find a role to suit you and there are lots to choose from.

RMC can offer you:

•         Experience of working with/for asylum seekers, refugees & migrants.
•         A friendly environment to work in
•         Transferable skills (e.g. team working, communication/interpersonal skills).
•         Specific skills (dependant on your will & enthusiasm)
•          Training
•          Support
•          References
•          Reimbursement of travel expenses /costs or out of pocket expenses.
•          Certificate for volunteering

The main roles volunteers undertake are:

•         Manning reception
•         Interpreting/ translation
•         Administration/filing
•         Helping to man stalls at events
•         Advice work - assisting advisers
•         Research/Evaluation/Assistance with fundraising
•         Publicity/Marketing/Mail outs
•         I.T Support
